Career Encounters has joined forces with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and the Career Information Clearinghouse for the Profession of Pharmacy to develop two video programs about careers for pharmacists. AACP represents the interests of pharmacy education in the United States. The mission of AACP is to promote the advancement of pharmaceutical education, research, patient care and public service. CAREER ENCOUNTERS®:Pharmacy
Summary: The program is documentary in style and features pharmacists in a wide variety of practice settings. We visit a community pharmacist in Seattle who is breaking ground in the establishment of a new model of pharmacy professional practice, we meet a pharmacist working in a pharmaceutical research center in Connecticut, a pharmacy care educator working for a chain drug store in Pennsylvania, a clinical pharmacist making rounds with the medical staff in a St. Louis hospital, a large hospital director of pharmacy who manages a staff of 60 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, pharmacists specializing in managed care as well as student interning with a physician in a medical practice as part of her training in a Doctor of Pharmacy program. You will not see pharmacists counting pills behind a counter because the emphasis of this program is on the emerging model of pharmacist as integral member of the direct patient care team .

Careers for Pharmacists in the Pharmaceutical Industry
Summary: This video program is documentary in style and depicts pharmacists using clinical experience in nontraditional careers in the pharmaceutical industry including health outcomes research, scientific manager, drug marketing, clinical research organizations, regulatory affairs, entrepreneur and Internet development. The program serves as an effective tool to promote the wide variety of employment opportunities available to pharmacy graduates within the pharmaceutical industry. Use this video with prospective and current pharmacy students in conjunction with the Career Encounters in Pharmacy.
